monthly appointments
Every third week of the month, xhāl welcomes Cate Flesher for a limited offering of acupuncture appointments. Thoughtfully designed to support restoration, balance, and connection within the body, these sessions are intentionally limited to 10 appointments each month to create a more personalized experience. Ear seeds, press needles, or cupping may be added to your treatment as your provider sees fit.

Cate is a compassionate, discerning, and deeply service-oriented practitioner who believes people deserve to feel at ease, understood, and respected in her care. As an acupuncturist & herbalist since 2024, Cate brings warmth, humor, loyalty, and joy to her work, along with a lifelong curiosity about people and the experiences that shape them. An enduring love of community, nature, and the quiet wisdom found in the outdoor world continues to inform how she approaches both life and healing.
Her path to acupuncture & traditional Chinese medicine was shaped by a range of professional and personal experiences that taught her the value of resilience, self-determination, and meaningful, authentic support. After witnessing how easily people can lose a sense of agency during difficult seasons of life, she became drawn to work that could help restore it. Her years working alongside women through periods of profound change, together with her own experiences of loss, adversity, and transformation, ultimately led her toward a more holistic understanding of care.
Cate has found significant purpose in this practice, as it considers the whole person—not simply a symptom or diagnosis. She is passionate about sharing knowledge, restoring agency, and helping people feel more confident and connected to their own bodies. At its heart, her practice is truly about creating space for healing, restoring balance, and helping people move forward with a greater sense of possibility.

Acupuncture works through the body’s interconnected systems rather than targeting a single symptom or body part. By stimulating specific points, acupuncture can influence the nervous system and the body’s natural regulatory processes—including circulation, pain perception, muscle tension, inflammatory responses, stress response, and the body’s ability to recover and maintain balance.
This is also why the same acupuncture treatment is not appropriate for everyone, even when two people have the same diagnosis. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, symptoms are considered within the context of the entire person. Your constitution, energy, sleep, digestion, emotional state, menstrual cycle, pain patterns, and other factors can all influence how your body is functioning and how treatment is approached.
Rather than treating a condition in isolation, acupuncture looks at the relationships between systems. This individualized, whole-person approach allows it to be used alongside conventional care for a remarkably broad range of concerns—from pain and injury recovery to women's health, digestive concerns, stress, sleep, and general wellness.
The goal isn't simply to make a symptom disappear. It's to understand why your body is experiencing it and help create the conditions for better function, regulation, and recovery.

A little preparation can help you get more from your treatment.
Stay well hydrated before your appointment. Hydration supports your body’s ability to respond to treatment and may help your results feel more effective and last longer.
Try not to arrive overly hungry or immediately following a large meal. A light meal or snack beforehand is ideal.
If applicable, please have a current list of your medications, supplements, allergies, and relevant health information available so we can make your treatment as thoughtful and appropriate as possible.

Comfort is key. Loose, comfortable clothing is preferred, with pieces that allow easy access to both arms, your entire back, and most of your legs.
Think relaxed layers, loose-fitting pants, shorts, or a comfortable top that can be easily adjusted as needed. There’s no need to undress completely for your treatment—we simply want enough access to work comfortably with the areas being addressed.

There is no single way you are “supposed” to feel after acupuncture.
You may feel deeply relaxed, tired, or even a little lethargic. You may also leave feeling energized, clear, grounded, or unusually focused. Your response may be immediate, subtle, or continue to unfold over the hours that follow.
For this reason, give yourself a little room afterward to notice, adjust, and integrate rather than immediately moving into the next demanding thing.
Whenever possible, avoid rigorous exercise or strenuous activity immediately following your treatment. Instead, consider this time an opportunity to:
Rest. Relax. Restore. Regain composure.
Hydrate, move gently, and allow your body some quiet space to absorb the work we’ve done together.
If your schedule allows, leaving yourself a little unhurried time after your appointment can be one of the most valuable parts of the experience.
